Nolan welcomes funding for LOETB

Independent TD Carol Nolan has warmly welcomed conformation from the Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee TD, that Laois and Offaly Education Train board (LOETB) has been selected among the ten new UBU Your Place Your Space services following the allocation of an additional €1.2 million in Budget 2025.

Deputy Nolan had submitted extensive representations on the funding issue for the LOETB with the minister and department over the course of the last year.

It is understood that once established, the ten new services will provide targeted, youth worker-led supports for up to 1,000 young people, ensuring help is delivered directly to the areas where it is most needed:

“This is fantastic news especially in light of the facts that I have consistently highlighted around the very low level of national funding that the LOETB has received from the department for its out-reach and youth work services,” said Deputy Nolan.

“I will continue to advocate strongly for both the LOETB and indeed all youth services in Offaly that are in urgent need of more direct financial support,” concluded Deputy Nolan.
