About Carol

 

Carol hails from Cadamstown, County Offaly. She was born in Tullamore in 1978 and was educated at  NUI Maynooth, Marino Institute of Education and Froebel College of Education, Blackrock where she received a Masters Degree in Special and Inclusive Education in 2012.

She taught as a primary school teacher for over a decade and has experience as a former Gaelscoil principal. Carol is married to Gerard and has two children. She has campaigned against the closure of vital services like Garda stations and rural post offices.

First elected to Offaly County Council in 2014 for the Birr LEA, Carol has been a consistent campaigner for improvements to local services including occupational and speech therapy for children with special needs. I have also campaigned against the closure of vital services like rural post offices.

Carol was first elected to the Dáil for the Offaly constituency in 2016. In 2020, she was re-elected as an independent for the Laois-Offaly constituency. Carol is a well-known voice in the Dáil for issues related to farming and agriculture, education, disability, human rights, health and regional development.
