Local Link confirms it will facilitate a stop Killyon following traffic calming measures

TFI Local Link Laois Offaly has confirmed to Independent TD Carol Nolan that the company is working with Offaly County Council to address a growing need for a stop in Killyon.

Deputy Nolan had pressed the issue with the company following numerous representations by constituents from the Killyon/Kinnitty and Clareen areas who regularly use the TFI bus service that travels from Birr to Portlaoise daily:

“I am delighted to be able to confirm that TFI Local Link Laois Offaly are prepared to sign off on the Killyon stop once the current traffic calming measures are complete, and that it is actively working to ensure this happens. This is important safety measure for both the passengers and the bus driver,” said Deputy Nolan.

“The absence of a stop at Killyon means that locals and those who would use the service have to drive to Kinnitty or to Crinkle to use this service to travel on to Birr and Portlaoise.”

“This is particularly important given that the TFI Local Link services are funded by the Rural Transport Programme (RTP) whose entire remit is about focusing on and responding to rural isolation and enhancing the mobility, accessibility and community participation of local people, particularly those at risk of social exclusion.”

“I will continue to work with the Local Link services and indeed Offaly County Council to bring this matter to a positive conclusion,” concluded Deputy Nolan.
